Brazilian steelmaker Gerdau SA said it will spend R$838 million (US$425 million) on developing its Gerdau Aominas property, an investment that it hopes will raise its upstream self-sufficiency by 2014

Global number one steelmaker ArcelorMittal has revealed that it intends to invest $125-million in its iron-ore mines in Brazil, in order to increase their production by 65% by next year. The companys Brazilian mines are forecast to produce 4.3-million tons of iron ore this year and the target production figure for 2013 is 7.1-million tons.
