World railway wheels market 2008

The attachment shows world railway wheel demand in millions of units and in tonnage terms. Total supply and demand equal approx 5 million wheel  units, of which forged wheels are ~3.5 m units, and cast wheels represent 1.5 m units.

The world's largest suppliers include Vyksa Steel Works in Russia, Interpipe in Ukraine, Maanshan in China and Nizhny Tagil Metallurgical Kombinat [Evraz NTMK] in Russia.
