Worldwide production of stainless steel flat and long products in 2001 amounted to ~15.6 mt.
This volume has increased steadily, to ~21.3 mt in 2009, with output of 23.7 mt in 2006 representing peak output.
Demand for finished steel is estimated at ~80% flat and ~20% long products during this period.
