What is RSS ?
XML, developed in the late 1990s, is the widely used standard for information exchange between Internet applications. RSS denotes 'Really Simple Syndication', and uses a lightweight XML format for sharing text-based information. RSS is thus the standard that is emerging for publishing, distributing and updating regular updates to website content, including news headlines, articles, and blog postings. To find an RSS feed, look out for the orange RSS box. If you click on the RSS box, you will then usually be able to find the newsfeed.

You can get a free download from sites such as www.newsgator.com from Attensa RSS, or from the Bloglines service.
