Other information: The Odisha Mining Corporation is based in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Established in 1956. Odisha Mining Corp Ltd has four decades of experience in the mining of various ores - including iron ore, manganese ore, chromite; as well as limestone. These minerals cater to the raw material requirements of the iron and steel, sponge iron, pig iron, ferro-manganese and ferro-chrome production industires.

Odisha Mining Corporation Limited was set up as a joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Odisha to harness the mineral wealth of the state. In 1961, the company became wholly owned by the Government of Odisha.

Principal mining assets include the Gandhamardan Iron Ore Mines (reserves of 223 mt), the Daitari Iron Ore Mines (reserves of 155 million tonnes), the Kaliapani Chrome Ore Mines, and the Sukrangi Chromite Mines (ore reserves of ~5 mt). Current iron ore production is ~8 million tonnes / year; with chrome ore output at ~0.9 million tonnes per year. OMC also diversified into bauxite mining in 2018.
