Capital investment cost figures compiled by Metals Consulting International, based on investments by NISCO at Mobarakeh Steel, Iran; at the Ashinsky steel Works in Russia; by AK Steel at the Butler Works in the USA, etc. Note that cost per tonne estimates work out significantly higher for small-size EAFs. THus, capex cost for a ~300kt electric arc furnace melt shop is closer to $300 / tonne of capacity.
