Ferrous Metals mostly contain iron (chemical symbol 'Fe'). They typically have small amounts of other added elements in order to give the required physical and chemical properties. Ferrous Metals are magnetic and give little resistance to corrosion and include vehicle scrap metal, demolition site scrap metal, steel offcuts from manufacturing industry.
In mining and economics, the term base metals refers to industrial non-ferrous metals excluding precious metals. These elements include copper, lead, nickel and zinc.
