Steel Industry Advisory Services

Independent Advisory for the Global Steel Industry

SteelOnTheNet provides independent advisory services to steel producers, project developers, banks, governments and investors worldwide. Our work is grounded in proprietary data — cost models, market databases, capital expenditure benchmarks — built up over more than 25 years of steel industry analysis. We have no commercial affiliations with equipment suppliers or traders, ensuring that our advice is always conflict-free.

Our advisory work spans five core service areas, which can be commissioned individually or as an integrated engagement. Together they cover the full range of questions that arise when evaluating a steel investment, assessing an existing producer, formulating a competitive strategy, or supporting litigation and dispute resolution.

Our Five Advisory Services

Each service is available as a standalone engagement or as part of a fully integrated feasibility study or strategic review.

How the Services Work Together

The five services are designed to be complementary. A full feasibility study for a new steel investment typically draws on the first four: the market appraisal establishes the revenue case; the technical review defines the cost structure and capital requirements; the financial analysis integrates these into a financial model; and the strategy support frames the competitive context and adaptation options.

Our expert witness and litigation support service draws on the same proprietary data and analytical frameworks, applying them in the context of disputes, arbitration and court proceedings.

Each service can also be commissioned independently — for example, a standalone market study to support an acquisition decision, or a technical audit required by a lender. We scope each engagement to client needs and budget.

Who We Work With

Our clients include steel producers, private equity and institutional investors, commercial and development banks, governments and industrial development agencies, and international organisations. We serve clients across all major steel-producing regions — from established markets in Europe and North America to growth markets in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

All engagements are project-based, conflict-free, and subject to our strict data security framework. Testimonials from clients including EBRD, OYAK and Deloitte can be viewed here.

Expert Witness & Litigation Support

In addition to our advisory work, we provide independent expert witness services for steel industry disputes. Our evidence draws on the same proprietary cost models, market databases and technical benchmarks used in our advisory practice — applied to the specific requirements of arbitration panels, courts and regulatory proceedings.

We are instructed by solicitors and counsel acting for steel producers, traders, banks and insurers in technical, commercial and market disputes. Our reports are prepared to comply with Civil Procedure Rules and international arbitration standards.
